the contemporary classroom

is an online studio centered around providing professional development to educators like you.

We believe professional development should incorporate 3 things:
content, in the field experiences, and a reflection.

The Contemporary Classroom was created from a need:

to provide teachers innovative, effective courses that overcome the challenges of traditional PD.

Research shows proper professional development is imperative in enabling educators to best meet their student’s needs. Yet, the current PD options offered to educators are largely ineffective due to their lack of differentiation and lack of follow through. The National Staff Development council reports that while 90% of educators attend PD, majority say sessions they attended are useless.

That’s where we come in.

TCC’s innovative courses effectively develop educator knowledge and skills to impact student learning.

How

Our courses are designed and written by expert educators who have over a decade of experience teaching in elementary classrooms.

Our innovative courses integrate the components that research shows are essential to effective PD:

   – Provide time for educators to learn, practice, implement, and reflect upon course content

   – Incorporates active learning

   – Incorporates critical thinking

   – Demonstrates effective classroom practice

   – Incorporates teacher choice

   – Supports collaboration

   – Provides coaching and support

   – Incorporates feedback and reflection

We Are So Glad You Are Here!

As you may know, there’s more to our courses than just easily checking your PD obligation off your to-do list. TCC all started because as a current classroom educator myself, I am always informally researching tips and tricks that will expand my skill set and enable me to continue to best meet the needs of my students. When it came time for me to formally fulfill my PD credits during my first year teaching, I found the formats frustrating and not worth while.

A few years later, I began researching and developing an innovative professional learning curriculum for educators.

Then, in 2019, I launched The Contemporary Classroom to help other teachers formally fulfill their PD credits in a way that is worthwhile & effective.

While we know that professional development is important. We know that it’s the relationships with one another that matter the most. It warms my heart to know that each course we create plays a small role in your educational journey and in the instruction you provide your students. I can’t thank you enough for letting us be apart of that!
